This is a response to the handful of people who gave me shit for my last Britney caricature: "Leave her alone! Britney's not a bad mom! Stop picking on Britney..." My response: Don't even think of telling me what I can or cannot draw. Britney is a willing celeb, a public figure, and as such is an open target for caricature. It comes with the game of being a celeb and she knows it. The fact that her piss poor choices in life have made her a celeb in the negative sense is her problem, not mine. It only gives me great ammo for my weapon of caricature. Caricature by definition is intended as a savage mirror for public figures and all their foibles and blemishes, and Britney has made herself queen of the leper colony. Hence, my caricatures of her reflect her outrageous behavior and public image. If she looks demented in my drawing, blame her, not me. Jessica Alba didn't become a lousy mom, drunkenly flash her goods and inexplicably shave her head, and her caricature, in my opinion, turned out pretty complimentary. Tell Britney to clean up her act and I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, I stand by the fact that I waited at least until her hair grew out enough to attach some ratty looking extentions before I lampooned her bald coming out party. If anything, I may have waited too long to lampoon her stubbly madness. But as we see on a daily basis, she just keeps providing fresh fodder for us caricaturists anyway. So this may not be the last one, folks. Deal with it.
