You can thank TV's Kyle for his shameless plea for me to post more artwork that I'm now sharing this particular drawing. Or, if you hate my artwork, you can blame Kyle for his shameless plea for me to post new artwork. Either way, a mad shout-out to Kyle for his kind interest in my work and for prompting me to post more stuff.
This is one of those caricatures that was a no-brainer for me. As a deep rooted fan of Kevin Smith films, I knew the nuances of Lee's face; the pointy nose with nostrils you could fit your fist up. the puffy hangover eyes and the expansive forehead. But with his new show "My Name Is Earl", Lee gave me so much more to work with; windswept Kevin Costner hair (ala Dances With Wolves) and a mustache with so much character you'd have to think it was fake. All these elements combined made it so easy to draw the guy that I didn't even have to use a single bit of reference material to create it. What you see was in my head from the first time I saw Mallrats back in 1995 to when I forced myself to watch Earl while waiting for Scrubs to come on. But with a face like Lee's, it's just that simple.
i love that show. had to watch it from the internet cuz they don't broadcast "My name is Earl" on german/austrian television.
Great caricature! i seriously dig your style mate
btw, i tried to draw an "Earl-guy" in my latest deviation with no use of reference. I'd love to know what you think. top left corner: [link]
