I drew this cartoon as a tribute to Jim Henson's birthday (Sept. 24th), which ran on the Muppet fan site Toughpigs. For those who don't know, Jim created the original Kermit in 1955 by using his mother's old spring coat as building material. It's always been assumed that the coat was discarded, but I thought it'd be a hoot if Betty Henson hadn't been aware of her son's use of it.

So basically Jim was still a teenager when he created Kermit for Sam and Friends.

Yeah, more or less. He created them in his first years of college, so he wouldn't have even been twenty by the time Sam and Friends premiered.
